Charity: Cornerstone of Our Downtown Vision

For nearly three centuries, the former Charity Hospital stood as a beacon of care and hope. Now, after 20 years of vacancy, Louisiana and Tulane have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to lead its monumental rebirth.

Charity was always a place of healing and hope. The scientists and students who will call this space home will stay true to that as they embark on research and studies that will produce the cures of tomorrow.

More Ways We're Transforming Downtown New Orleans

Charity Hospital came to symbolize this city’s enduring commitment to public health. I am pleased that this powerful legacy will continue, as this new space becomes a modern monument to that same mission—one where scientists and students will pursue research and discovery that improve lives and shapes the cures of tomorrow.

— Robin Forman, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost
